Americana Blues 2

american blue

Is this Akesan
Or Oja Oba?
I asked myself: is this
Akesan or Oja Oba?
This image passes
For one in my ancient town

Alubosa, grapes, and fish,
All converging on the vast palm of the tray
See alubosa, grapes and fish
All on the spreading palms of trays
This is Akesan, oh no! This is Bodija
Here, down the city street of York

America’s history cooks here
With the water of its natives
Ani se, America’s tori cooks here
With waters of its natives
White, yoga, black and red, all melting,
Down the city square of Harlem

Tents invade the street
While skyscrapers bow to have a look
Oh! Tents invade the street
While skyscrapers bow for a look
Africa drums Djembe, Europe echoes
Latin sings Santeria, Asia danced the mandopop
