Franschhoek Literary FestivalConceptualised in 2006, the Franschhoek Literary Festival has garnered much attention from poetry enthusiasts. The three-day festival in May will include poetry readings, a competition, discussions and performance poetry. There will be poetry from across the spectrum from well-known poets to new voices and 13 poetry sessions over this autumn weekend in Franschhoek.

To celebrate this art form with local and international poets, you can book for discussions ranging from hip-hop, learning how to write, read and hear poetry, the personal journeys of poets, young voices from Sudan, Nigeria and South Africa, multilingualism and translation in poetry, a discussion around the themes of nature in poetry, to the differing styles and delivery of spoken and written poetry.

Poets will include Mbongeni Nomkonwana, Karin Schimke, Jumoke Verissimo, Safia Elhillo, Blaq Pearl, Khadija Heeger, Adam Haupt, Nick Mulgrew, Beverly Rycroft, Eliza Kentridge, Primrose Mrwebi, Isobel Dixon, Katleho Shoro, Quentin Williams, Linda Kaoma, Wendy Woodward, Finuala Dowling and Genna Gardini.
